Educators empower and support young people to find career paths that utilize their unique talents. They ignite students' passion for meaningful work that will sustain them and provide for their families. CCL assists educators by helping them reach students with programming that is engaging, project-based, culturally sound, relevant and exploratory. This is our reason why.

Best Practices Quick ReferenceThe American School Counselor Association (ASCA) offers key standards for career-related instruction, and the Oregon Administrative Rules (OARs) govern how public schools develop their programming. Provided in this PDF are consolidated versions of both.
ASCA Standards and OARsCTE programs are a vital part of our schools and communities. I believe we can provide valuable opportunities for all students to learn skills that will positively affect their futures.

Renee was inspired to teach from a young age. She recalls setting up makeshift classrooms in her parents' garage. Now, fifteen years into her teaching career, she grounds her approach in exploring authentic, relevant situations while nurturing individual students' strengths. By teaching employability skills such as coping skills, time management and effective communication, she prepares her middle school students for success both in school and adulthood. Central to Renee's teaching philosophy is the cultivation of strong relationships with her students at Applegate Middle School. She wants them to feel valued, safe and supported in their learning journey. Witnessing her students flourish and contribute positively, combined with their smiles and eagerness, drives Renee's passion for teaching every day.
Ben is an advocate for public education. He works as a science teacher at Butte Falls Charter School. He values hands-on, applied projects as a means of instruction. Emphasizing the practical applications of science, he inspires students to connect with and understand their world. This mission is central to his work at the Natural Resource Center: a campus extension that helps students learn collaboration, creativity, communication, and critical thinking through ecology lessons, construction projects and maker classes. For Ben, teaching is a lifelong learning experience, a perspective he gained from a past teacher. As a public educator, he is driven by a dual mission: personal growth and molding future generations to make a positive impact on the world.
